Preliminary task

  • The background colour blue, doesn’t go well at all with the yellow background, it doesn’t go well at all either with the dark blue that has been added. It makes the contents page look very rushed, & not at all professional.
  • The pictures are bad quality & the sizing of the pictures completely throws the eye across the page, it has no deliberate eye catching material.
  • The title is seemingly split in half, the eye first catches the ‘con’ this is falsely making us pronounce the word differently.
  • The page has no clear structure; it looks extremely rushed & hasn’t really been planned out. They mightn’t have used the right software to construct this page.
  • This contents page includes a description of what the pages are & which number they are. Because this is clear, the contents page doesn’t seem like a page that we have to read, but a transfer page which we can simply glance at.

  • The light purple background colour & white combination makes the page look professional & mature, it also seemingly compliments the tone of the background photographs, so that it all looks like one big picture. This is critical to making a magazine seem like it belongs together.

  • The way the designer has included a way to be interactive with the magazine makes us feel more welcome.

  • The page in general has a positive feel about it, the exclusion of the colour black bar text has took all of the dark tones out of the graphics. This makes it feel more vibrant.
  • The layout of the page is unique; the main shape being a triangle sets the theme for this page & maybe for the magazine. The random square makes the picture stand out, maybe suggesting it is important.

  • The colours go well together due to the tone being the same & the background of white, but these colours look abstract together in an unprofessional way. The introduction of a photograph might make this seem more professional.

  • The contents title, is the same colour as the background, this doesn’t make it stand out & catch the eye. The first thing that catches the eye is the square shape; this could be an important page.
